My wife and I are visiting my mom in Maine, to be present for her last "Canadian Thanksgiving" dinner. Usually attended just by the family in Maine, but it worked out for me this year.

Yes. My mom called it Pflaumenkuchen…

I am in Wiesbaden this week! Just got back from a four mile walk in the countryside, lots of pumpkin fields. And there's a Federwein cart outside the grocery store. Be still, my heart. Ich liebe Deutschland! I don't love pflaumkuchen, though. Kaiserschmarrn is more my style. 😍

Well our Saturday was spent drinking sake with hundreds, possibly thousands, of others at Saijo Sake Matsuri (festival). I'll probably post something about that soonish

Your medal picture reminded me our ours (wife & I). When this house was built for us the builder added for "free"* a cabinet with two bars from which we could hang our running medals. This is part of it.

We also haven't run any races in a while, though I'm thinking hard about doing a half marathon next year, but we have lots of cycle event completion certificates instead that are now sitting in a pile on the bottom of the medal cabinet

*i.e. hid in the extras somehow, but I'm not complaining

It's harvest in my neighborhood. I froze peppers.

Last winter, buying fresh green peppers shipped all the way across the country were such a luxury that I bought frozen peppers. And they were suitable.

So this month I am gathering green and banana peppers and freezing them.
