Mine? No. My father drank way more alcohol than he should have and he was an angry drunk. Drugs were commonly abused. Three childhood friends had drug induced schizophrenia; one of which died starving in the woods fleeing from the government. Another friend lost everything thanks to a heroine addiction; I think he died of an overdose. A former boyfriend spent all his money on drugs and lost his house. Hard drugs were very common at parties when I grew up. I have no idea how I ever had the strength to say no. I did not even smoke weed. Drugs scared me.
A friend’s son died from fentanyl in 2020…I think that’s the only death directly from drugs that I know of. The kid was a perfectly healthy 17 year old that must have thought he was popping a Xanny and he never woke up.
It’s a sad statement on the modern GOP: the party’s racism is so deeply entrenched, so endlessly sprawling, that even artificial intelligence buckles under the task of cataloging it all.
